Team 2 has decided that we will reflect on each lesson in the "comment" section of this post. Each member will add content throughout the lesson as we grow and learn in each lesson. We felt that this would foster communication and collaboration in each lesson.
Something I found challenging – discussion moderation is always challenging for me. I enjoy participating in the discussions and being involved in class, but I don’t like being responsible for the grading. I am always a bit scared that I will miss someone’s post and it will end up costing them some points. What made moderation a bit more difficult this time around for me as well was the Twitter aspect. I found it a bit difficult to follow this discussion (probably my right brained mind which enjoys the order of the discussion boards).
ReplyDeleteWhat I enjoyed the most from this lesson was the number of tools that were suggested by others. That is one of the things I enjoy most about this program is the number of new tools that are introduced. While I might not have the time to experience them all now, I keep the ideas stored away to visit later.
I agree with Mark in regards to the discussion moderation. It is difficult to assess the posts or each individual. Also, I was only able to see 5 of the Twitter feeds, anything older couldn't be seen. I don't know if this is a new feature of Twitter, but it seems like it is not a very useful feature. I like Mark's idea of storing the ideas I can't try right now.
ReplyDeleteI have been having a difficult time filling out the table. I think that while most of the tools fulfill the requirements of connectivism, I didn't know what to do when they didn't so I just explained that that tool didn't meet the requirement. Not everything is going to fit perfectly with a theory of learning, but that doesn't mean that the tool isn't valuable.
I agree it is very challenging to grade our peers, particularly we feel that we do not know enough to evaluate our peers.
ReplyDeleteI suggest that you think differently. See evaluating peers as a learning experiences. By evaluating peers would help you to know your own strengths and weaknesses. When we are not lesson moderators, normally, we just focus on the our own thinking. As moderators, you have a chance to examine peers' postings closely. you can compare and contrast peers' performance to your own. So you learn a lot from this process for your future lesson discussion improvement.
Make sure start planning our:
Assignment 7: Educational Institution Network Policy & Procedures
Assignment 9: Network Learning Training
Have you team decide the topic for AT9? Don't forget we need to post our training topics by the end of Lesson 3.
They can be very time consuming. In lesson 2 we covered Emerging network technologies which focus on the characteristics of Connectivism. It is not just any technology. It should be networked and participatory within social interaction and learning aspect. I hope your group has identified one emerging technology for you Networking Learning Training. Don't forget the keys for ONLE/PLE are Open, Social, and Networking. Don't forget to read Horizon 2011 released in February. It should give you a very good idea what emerging technologies that educators and researchers are looking at.
I encourage your group to make your A9 Network Learning Training more interactive. If possible, engage our audiences in active and interactive activities rather than just presentations. Engage them in some sort of activities.
Continue your good work!
