Lesson Five Reflection

Team 2 has decided that we will reflect on each lesson in the "comment" section of this post.  Each member will add content throughout the lesson as we grow and learn in each lesson.  We felt that this would foster communication and collaboration in each lesson.

  1. I really enjoyed looking at Ning for our presentation. I had glanced at it a few times and read a few items about it but had never really looked into how I could use it in my classroom. I have used Wetpaint many times for my students to create wikis, but have found a few things that just don't work well in that environment. The way that discussion questions are formatted in wetpaint makes it difficult to follow for some students. I believe that Ning may be an answer to that problem since Ning's discussions seem much more straight forward. I hope to use it next year in my AP US History course...I just need to persuade my IT guy that he should unblock Ning on our network!

  2. I also enjoyed learning about Ning. I hadn't really heard of it before so everything was new to me. I thought our presentation did a good job of allowing participants to get a feel for and experience some of the things Ning has to offer as an instructional and PLE/ONLE tool.

I was a little overwhelmed by the feedback for the Unit Proposal. I want to create a unit that I will be able to use with my students next year. But I am limited in what resources I can use in my district so I wrote my plan around these limitations. My unit is to help students set up their PLE/ONLE so that in future units we can use it to create content, etc. Because my students are middle grade students it will take several lessons to set up the PLE/ONLE whereas it would only take a college student one lesson.

  3. Your group has done outstanding job on Network training session. It was very informative and comprehensive. I enjoyed it very much. I know many our classmates and others learned a lot for your sessions as well. In fact, we have ETC alumni and other audiences told me your session was excellent. Many of them watched our recordings.

Unit proposals are critical to our final unit. Be sure to follow the feedback that you received and reflect them on your final unit. I will take our unit proposals to review our final units. Don’t give up! We are almost done with the semester. :-)

Multidimensional discussions with Diigo and Google Sites (Wiki) is very different ways to carry discussion and content discourses. What do you think? We will take time to discussion our ideas about this discussion in Lesson 7 discussions.

Don’t give up! We almost finish the semester.
